World's First Portable Device
Breezing's metabolism technology was invented by award-winning professors and its devices were designed by a team led by Mayo Clinic Fellow and Clinical Director Dr. Forzani, for academic, athletic, and clinical applications with FDA clearance. Using the vastly improved design of the first generation Trackers, Breezing has been validated against Gold Standards by independent third parties. Breezing products are being used by the Mayo Clinic, Harvard Medical School, Northwestern Univ. Sports Program, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, and many others around the world.

Metabolism is the single most important factor dictating our daily caloric needs, and it varies from person to person and from time to time. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recommends monitoring metabolism with gold standard indirect calorimetry, which requires accurate measurement of the O2 consumed by a person and the rates of CO2 produced in respiration. Breezing's patented device captures and processes O2 and CO2 concentrations in the breath, in combination with other lung measurements, to achieve an accurate metabolic rate reading.
Breezing Accuracy Validation
Based on clinical studies and laboratory testing, Breezing's accuracy is ~100% with 95% confidence intervals compared to gold standard reference methods. Findings from clinical studies are summarized below.
-
Breezing accurately measures O 2 , CO 2 and REE, with results consistent with the Douglas bag method, with p < 0.0001
-
The study validates Breezing as an accurate tool to assess metabolic parameters
-
Breezing helps healthcare providers assess a patient's metabolic health and develop personalized weight management programs with better clinical results.

Patients treated with the Breezing device experienced 2x greater weight loss and 70% greater adherence to healthy behaviours, with significant improvements in type 2 diabetes risk factors including HbA1C, cholesterol and blood pressure. Clinical studies are summarized below.
-
Adding RMR to the weight loss program using Breezing Mobile resulted in increased weight loss; improvement of HDL cholesterol and greater adherence to health monitoring
-
Facilitated more comprehensive use of the calorie counter app, including calorie intake tracking, activity tracking, weight tracking, and sharing features.
-
Breezing provides personalized, precise and accurate information to patients for monitoring and health improvement.
Calculation of metabolism versus actual measurement
Although the calculations provide the average RMR for the population, a comparative study between the RMR calculated using the Mifflin St-Jeor (MSJE) predictive equation and the RMR measured using the Breezing indirect calorimetry method showed that the calculated values may underestimate and overestimating the true RMR at 950 and 660 kCal per day, respectively. The results of the studies are listed below:
-
Breezing is a much easier to use method of assessing RMR and measurement by Breezing should be practiced for clinical use.
